Socialism?

Image
Socialism is all the rage with many of my progressive friends but I don't get it. Why are so many people in our country looking to change one of the most prosperous countries in history to the type of government that has failed so big, so frequently, so horrendously and at the cost of so many lives? We live in AMERICA people! America! Look around! No, not on social media or TikTok, but out in the real world! Yes, it is "woke" to say that America is bad and greedy and awful. You can easily be considered enlightened if you repeat the same evil message about our country. It is sad.  Our country is amazing. Once you get outside the walls of our social media bubbles that we live in, you'll see how incredible our country is. You'll see why millions flock to our country, many risking their own lives to do so, just to live here. You'll also see that among those here who hate our country, there are zero of them leaving. Shut the TV and phone off then go to or speak wit

A dozen tricks of Big Media

Image
A few years ago, Hillary Clinton used the term "fake news" and the phrase quickly became popular. My guess is that the term stuck because, it's true.  It is common for us to be a little shocked when others believe something "because they saw it online" but at the same time we readily accept everything that comes out of their favorite media outlet. Our favorite outlet is 100% the truth and others are evil people trying to get us to believe a huge array of lies.  Previously, I wrote a blog on the news, which you can find here  What I learned from reading 20 news apps a day , but wanted to continue my train of thought. I still find it fascinating how the media can use such a small portion of what happened and then dramatize the rest to increase viewership. It is equally fascinating that everyone agrees about that, just not with their preferred media outlets.    It is striking to see that if President Biden or President Trump were to run into a burning building and

How the Republican party left me

Image
For the past couple decades, I have felt that the Republican party aligns more much closely with my own beliefs than the Democrat party. I've always admired what the Democrat party stood for, but it seemed to me that they promise all great things and then get in office and seemingly try to destroy our country while doing nothing for the people they promised to help. I jumped ship but now the Republican party seems to have aligned herself with the Democrats.  Sure, politicians align themselves with the popular aspects of one party to get elected and then, pretty much do whatever they want in office. Voting records and bills presented have no correlation with the values of those who elected them. It is almost as if it doesn't matter who we elect, because once they are in, they just start blowing money on whatever they want.  I'm not sure how after countless examples of huge governments failing miserably, that so many people desire this so much. It seems like having basic fr

Vaccines

Image
Vaccines for the Rona! In case you've been asleep for the last couple of years, way back in 2020 the COVID-19 virus started to ravage the world. The number of deaths were staggering and the world prayed and hoped for a solution.  Given the collection of ridiculously crazy smart people gathered together at different locations around the globe, several vaccines were produced to combat the disease. It really was miraculous.  Beliefs about this miracle have become so incredibly divisive, that this is probably the only blog I'll write where I don't post it on social media. People seem to have lost their ever living freaking minds about vaccines and are so very entrenched in opposing beliefs about it that people are no longer open to any type of civil discussion about it.  Not that you care what I think, but, here is what I think :-) When Covid first hit people were terrified. We were asked to wear masks in public and if we were in a high-risk group or were feeling symptoms then
