How the Republican party left me
For the past couple decades, I have felt that the Republican party aligns more much closely with my own beliefs than the Democrat party. I've always admired what the Democrat party stood for, but it seemed to me that they promise all great things and then get in office and seemingly try to destroy our country while doing nothing for the people they promised to help. I jumped ship but now the Republican party seems to have aligned herself with the Democrats.
Sure, politicians align themselves with the popular aspects of one party to get elected and then, pretty much do whatever they want in office. Voting records and bills presented have no correlation with the values of those who elected them. It is almost as if it doesn't matter who we elect, because once they are in, they just start blowing money on whatever they want.
I'm not sure how after countless examples of huge governments failing miserably, that so many people desire this so much. It seems like having basic freedoms would be in everyone's best interest. The economy is a big thing for me and the amount of debt Republicans accumulate during office is staggering. Financial common sense seems to only be an issue when a democrat is in office but once Republicans get in the check book is open.

My big three reasons I feel the Republican party has left me...
- SPENDING - Republicans usually get in to office by promising to reduce government spending, but man-o-man, once in office they start spending money like, well, like Democrats!
- GOVERNMENT SIZE - along with spending this is a big issue for Republicans. We want to vote someone in who will then decrease their own power, which must be extremely hard to do because no one does it. Once in office, they keep all the previous ways to waste money, then come up with new programs and new ways to spend money.
- FIGHT - Democrats have power because they dramatically and frequently state that they are fighting to care for race, gender and the earth. Actions do not matter, only the appearance of such. Republicans have neither. Republicans need to fight for smaller government, less spending, more freedom and the other reasons we vote them into office. For the most part now, they are just an arm of the Democrat party.
When the Republicans are in office, the size of our spending, size and power of the government should all shrink. But it doesn't. It is time to do some of those things you promised you promised to do to get voted in! We're just Democrats voting to spend a ton of money on things that are sometimes different than the ton of money Democrats are spending it on.
It almost feels like the same people that control the Dems, control the Republicans. They have taken control and now make a show of weakly fighting back but end up giving in. This gives people who don't agree with the left, a feeling of joining a major party that isn't bent on socialism. The Republicans just say we need to work with the Democrats to get things done, which seems to mean, we just help them with everything they want.
It's time to come back to our values. Democrats and Republicans aren't the answer to all of life and society's problems. They aren't the answer to any problems. Most often, they are the problem. Honestly, I think we'd be better off to vote every Republican out of office who has been in longer than two terms because there is no fight left in them. The Republican party has left me and most of its constituents. Too many see this as the only voice with any power against Democrats, which is too bad.
It is my prayer this party can gain some direction or that another party can rise and actually fight for the things that both Democrats and Republicans say they care for.
